And simultaneously we all agreed that it was the most perfect cabin we had ever seen.

This place is magical. Stoked to share it with some good humans @tyler_warren @danedamus @arctic_surf @jquinny @hammered_sam @ellithorphotography (at #FindingFaroes)

Where could this be?!

Or going to work sick because taking a day off means rent doesn’t get paid.

The absolute truth. Both of these statements

I had a splitting earache for five days because it would have taken literally more money than I had—somewhere around the order of two or three times as much money as I had—to be seen by a doctor without insurance. Any doctor. Even by an emergency room doctor. My healthcare options were ‘home remedies’ or ‘thousand dollar loan from parents who don’t really have that money either’.
If that had been Ebola I’d have infected dozens of people—and I live in the kind of neighborhood where no one can afford a day off work, plus my roommate’s in college and god knows students in this country are already loaded down with too much debt to be able to handle hospital bills… This system is completely fucked.

Thank god for the NHS. We moan about it, we complain about it, we debate it but it is frankly, alongside the welfare state, the greatest social development ever. The idea that money should not be the defining factor for our health, but that we should look after each other in a more egalitarian society. Thank you NHS.
